Sargent makes strategic investment in Western Australia
June 1, 2011 – Sargent today announced it has made a strategic investment in Karratha based North West Mechanical, a locally owned and operated mechanical workshop.
“This investment in Karratha complements our fleet rental business that has had a presence in the district for the last two years” said Grant Harrison, national sales and marketing manager for Sargent. “With the growth in mining, energy and infrastructure in this area, now is the right time to provide the much needed investment in mechanical support services.”
“With a presence in Perth and Newman already, adding Karratha to Sargent’s Western Australia network gives us a comprehensive footprint across the state. It’s a great result for both businesses and the community.” Grant added.
North West Mechanical has been a family run business in Karratha since 1998, employing 6 mechanics, an apprentice and 3 office staff, including Melanie Johnston the daughter of owner Graeme Wann.
“We’ve always supported the local community and local business and actively help with the development of young people in the area who want to work in the mechanical industry. We even partner with the local high school and colleges to offer work placement to students. The investment from Sargent means we can continue this support and look at new ways of expanding the business during the huge growth we are seeing in Karratha” said Graeme Wann, owner and operator of North West Mechanical.
“I’m really excited to be working with Sargent and their team to continue to service our customers – many of which are now my good friends – for years to come.”
